That's enough
Strike
Strikes are a trade union means of increasing pressure on the employer's side in labor dispute law. Strikes are regarded as a last resort and should be used with caution.
In addition to the indefinite strikes, there are also so-called warning strikes that accompany and support the negotiations. This underlines the seriousness of the union's demands.
In the past, there have only been isolated warning strikes in the artistic sector, which were localized.
Strike by stage employees
The last nationwide strike by sister unions GDBA and VdO took place in 2015. At the time, the Bühnenverein was not prepared to approach the unions about accepting the public sector agreement. After a warning strike, during which rehearsals at all theaters went on strike for 15 minutes at 10 a.m., the necessary movement was made and the unions were able to push through their demands.
Solidarity strikes
In 2023, the GDBA called for solidarity strikes with ver.di at state and regional theaters for the first time. The NV-Bühne employees benefit from the agreements in the public sector. The GDBA is therefore keen to support ver.di in its demands and collective bargaining.
And now?
The GDBA has terminated the NV Bühne with effect from 31.12.2024. As long as the collective agreement is in force, there is a so-called peace obligation. When the collective agreement expires in January 2025, it will be possible to call NV Bühne employees to strike.
If there are current GDBA strike calls, all important questions are always dealt with in the FAQs.
