Start of the #BerlinIstkultur month of action

The GDBA is taking part in the #BerlinIstKultur - Kulturabbau verhindern month of action.

In view of the impending cuts of around 10% in the Berlin budget, various cultural associations are calling on people to take part in the joint #BerlinIstKultur month of action on October 16, 2024. The participants are calling on Berlin politicians not to implement the announced cuts. Cutting culture is a wrong decision in terms of cultural and financial policy.

How many institutions and artists across the entire cultural scene would be painfully affected by the cuts and how great the damage to Berlin's image would be is disproportionate given the fact that the cultural budget only accounts for 2.5% of the overall budget. Furthermore, the cuts in Berlin could serve as an example for other federal states.

For us as a trade union, it is imperative that the cultural budget must not be cut. Please take part in the month of action #BerlinIstKultur

Statement in action vests read out after the performance

In consultation with the theater management, the statement against cultural cutbacks can be read out after the performance. You are welcome to change the statement. It would be important to draw attention to the petition "Protect Berlin culture in the budget crisis". We need as many signatures as possible. The petition can be accessed via a QR code, which could be projected onto the stage.

I-LOVE photo campaign

In consultation with the theater management, the "I ❤ photo campaign" can be carried out with the audience after the performance. With the photo campaign, we want to show that the cuts are not only affecting the performing arts, but a much, much broader field in the cultural sector. From literature to music schools, concerts or club culture - we stand side by side with all cultural workers.
